Bike ride through Futakotamagawa

Went for a little bike ride this evening with the girlfriend.  Would have been a pity not to take advantage of the sunny day.  Cycled along the shores of Tama river and shortly arrived at Futakotamagawa…a place with a lot of memories for me as I used to go to high-school there.  Cycled past this interesting backstreet where a few buildings have been built in “Kyoto style”

Then saw this, a Hyundai something or rather on Korean plates (Bussan I believe).  Now this is definitely something you just don’t see in Japan…cars running on foreign plates.  So I quickly snapped this picture. Got a funny look from the lady in the driver’s seat! (apologies both pix were taken with my mobile)

It is possible to bring cars over from Korea for short periods, but I have only seen it in Fukuoka before. The number plate is a newer one and doesn’t have the province on it.
The Japanese and Korean Governments were talking about building a tunnel under the sea to link Busan and Fukuoka via Tsushima island. That would have been perfect. The best cars in the world on one side and cheap living costs, the best food and the most beautiful girls on the other.
